Becca Gerlach, burnout and unmasking speaker, at the Revolutionary Practice Summit 2026

Meet Becca, in Her Own Words

I've worked in the mental health field since 2007, and like many social workers, I started my career in a nonprofit agency. Instead of enjoying my work, I felt sad, burnt out, helpless, underpaid, and underappreciated. I thought years of school would leave me with more to show for it, and that I'd know more about starting a practice. We don't learn any of that in grad school.

After a lot of work, some helpful mentors, some struggles, and throwing shit at the wall to see what stuck, I launched my private practice. I was only solo for a couple of months before it became a group, because offering new therapists a kind, supportive place to work matters a lot to me.

Since graduating in 2012, I've built a small teaching practice, provided plenty of supervision and consultation, spoken at conferences and universities, run courses, and as of January 2026, started leading retreats. Being human is fucking hard, and I want to help.
